Our EDCV team are the champions of practical work across the district. The variety of the role stretches from gorse clearance at Trinity Hill near Axminster to footpath clearance at Knapp Copse near Honiton, taking in all of our nature reserves apart from Seaton Wetlands. If you're interested in variety and like to do practical work across all different habitats and environments, this is the role for you.

Every Thursday under the guidance of our Wild East Devon Ranger Jon and assistant ranger Ben, the group helps with practical site management across nine of our ten nature reserves from Axminster to Exmouth contributing to the conservation of the district's fantastic wildlife and habitats.

The East Devon Conservation Volunteers work across a range of habitats and there is plenty of opportunity to get involved with a variety of tasks throughout the year including:

  • Scrub clearance
  • Coppicing
  • Infrastructure maintenance
  • Hedgelaying
  • Wildlife surveys
  • Control of invasive species

Volunteers have the opportunity to develop new practical skills and an understanding of habitat management techniques. No previous experience is necessary, booking is via the online volunteer portal.

We offer training and social opportunities for volunteers throughout the year.

If you're interested in volunteering, please email wild@eastdevon.gov.uk and you will be contacted by Amelia to get involved
