As a district council we provide a range of services for people who live and work in East Devon and those visiting the area.

The money collected through council tax is distributed across a number of local public organisations.

We collect council tax and use eight per cent of this to pay for services including refuse collection and kerbside recycling, housing, planning, street cleaning and leisure.

Devon County Council uses 74 per cent of council tax we collect to provide education, roads, care for older people and people with disabilities, child protection, youth services, libraries, recycling centres and waste disposal.

The Police and Crime Commissioner for Devon and Cornwall use 11 per cent of council tax to provide law and order and crime reduction.

Devon and Somerset Fire and Rescue Authority uses five per cent of council tax to provide fire prevention and fire and rescue services.

Your local town and parish councils use council tax to provide local amenities.
