Food banks are community organisations that can help if you can’t afford the food you need.

Your Resettlement Officer can refer you to the food bank please contact them or homesforukrainesupport@eastdevon.gov.uk

You can ask for a referral from another organisation - for example your GP, housing association or social worker, or Citizens Advice. You might be able to use some food banks without a referral - for example, if it’s run by a church. Contact your local food bank to see if you need a referral. You'll need to get another referral before you can use the food bank again.

Going to a food bank

Check if your voucher is only valid on a specific day.

The food bank might be able to deliver your food parcel if you live in a rural area and can't afford to travel or you’re sick or disabled and can’t travel.

If the food bank is run by a church or other religious group, they'll still help you if you're not religious or from a different religion.

For those who are in need, we have a team of volunteers who can offer time to listen or chat. We also have trained support workers should you need any advice or support regarding benefits or financial difficulties, housing or homelessness issues, addictions, domestic abuse or any other issues, and a counselling service for those who cannot access NHS or private counselling. If we are unable to help, we will try to suggest an alternative organisation that may be able to. We also have showers, clothing including sleeping bags, and laundry facilities available for those who are homeless.

We also provide free hot meals during school holidays to children and their families who find themselves in need due to financial crisis, and free hot meals as part of our support work for those who find themselves sleeping rough. If you are in need of this support, please visit the cafe on a Monday, Wednesday or Friday and speak to one of our support team.
