East Devon shines at regional small business awards

The Economic Development team at East Devon District Council (EDDC) have been awarded the prestigious ‘best in the West’ title for its support for the local small business community – as well as making the shortlist in the national awards category.

Over 250 councils nationally entered the inaugural Local Government awards run by the Federation of Small Businesses. EDDC's £2.1m Innovation and Resilience Fund scooped the ‘Future Ready’ category prize. Judges were impressed by the success of the scheme in helping businesses emerge from the pandemic, recover and deliver innovative projects of value to the district’s economy and local employment. East Devon also made the shortlist for the ‘All Round Small Business Friendly’ award for our EastDevonly campaign.

Sue Wilkinson, FSB Development Manager for Devon, said she was delighted that East Devon had won one of the four regional awards on offer:

The team at East Devon work hard to support small businesses and I am absolutely delighted that this work has resulted in them winning the FSB South West ‘Future Ready’ category and being recognised for their work in the ‘All Round Small Business Friendly’ category too. It’s a fabulous result especially considering huge number of councils they were competing against!
