2. Emergency Tree Fund Proposal
Please note that the closing date for feedback regarding the Emergency Tree Fund Proposal is 8th February 2023.
East Devon District Council is looking to plant over 1,000 trees in 2023 and take advantage of funding as part of the Woodland Trust’s Emergency Tree Fund initiative. The intention is to create pockets of woodland across East Devon District Council’s green spaces and help drive towards net zero by soaking up carbon and supporting ecosystems for decades to come.
The proposals aim to enhance the functionality of green spaces for users and wildlife. Attention has been paid towards creating locally important woodland types, particularly mixed oak/birch woodland, to maximise biodiversity.
All materials and tree protection used are biodegradable and watering will be minimised to limit the environmental impact of establishing the woodlands.
The proposed spaces for woodland planting are:
- Phear Park: Exmouth
- Littletown Green: Beside Honiton Bottom Road, Honiton
- The Glen: Honiton
- Winter’s Lane Green Space: Beside Clapps Lane, Ottery St Mary
- Chine Walk: Next to Cliff Field Gardens, Seaton
- Underfleet Park: Next to Jurassic Long Stay Car Park, Seaton
- Imperial Rec: Exmouth
We endeavour to create outstanding green space for the people of East Devon to use and enjoy.
