For the latest information, news and updates on Neighbourhood plans, please see below:

  • June 2026:  Plymtree Parish Council are now consulting for a 6 week period on their draft neighbourhood plan (Regulation 14 stage).  The documents can be viewed on their website and all comments should be made to the Parish Council by 10 August 2026.
  • May 2026: 
    • The Government has now begun to issue neighbourhood planning toolkit guides for communities following the end of the funded support programme.  These guides will be added to and will be updated by April 2027 to align to the new National Planning Policy Framework which is expected to be published this summer.
    • Following a successful examination, a local referendum will be held in July on the neighbourhood plan for the parish of Woodbury.
  • November 2025: The revised Clyst St Mary and Sowton (Bishops Clyst) Neighbourhood Plan has now been made, following a successful referendum.  This is the first formal review and modification of a neighbourhood plan in the district.
  • June 2025: The Government has announced that it is no longer able to offer the annual grant and technical support programme to communities for neighbourhood planning.  The programme will not re-open but any pre-agreed technical support packages will be honoured for work to be delivered by end March 2026.  Neighbourhood planning continues to be encouraged by both the Government and East Devon District Council.  Please contact us to discuss how we can best support you with neighbourhood planning in the light of these changes.
