12. Exmouth cycle strategy

The County Council is developing the Exe Estuary Trail, which will form part of the National Cycle Network route 2 and will provide a route around the whole of the Exe Estuary.  The Exmouth to Lympstone and Nutwell Court to Exton sections have been completed.  Work will start on the Lympstone to Nutwell Court section and the Exton to Topsham section in Spring 2010.  Substantial work has been undertaken on the off road route on the west bank of the Exe and the two sections required to complete the route will be completed over the next two years.  This will give an off-road circuit with fantastic tourism potential.  To maximise the benefits of these major improvements and improve accessibility by bicycle throughout the town, Cycle-path Exmouth (comprised of 9 interested local residents) in consultation with the town, district and county council, have produced a strategy for comprehensive cycle path provision in Exmouth.

The Exmouth Cycle Strategy was endorsed by East Devon District Council for development control and planning policy purposes on 11 March 2008.
