5. Re-use of rural buildings

The district council has produced Interim Supplementary Planning Guidance for the re-use of rural buildings. The guidance has been produced in order to clarify the district council's requirements and ensure that development is carried out to a high standard, ensuring that only suitably located and constructed buildings are retained and converted. Where a building is considered worthy of retention the guidance provides advice on appropriate uses, appropriate measures to protect and enhance the building and explains the landscape and special nature conservation considerations.  The guidance was adopted on 18 May 2005.
