Trees on council land

Locations of trees maintained or owned by us in East Devon are:

  • Parks
  • Cemeteries
  • Public open spaces
  • Gardens of council houses and flats
  • Communal areas of council properties

To report a dangerous, fallen or overhanging tree on East Devon District Council's land please contact our Customer Service team on 01395 571710 or email streetscene@eastdevon.gov.uk

Trees on private land

To report a dangerous, fallen or overhanging tree on private land please contact the landowner. Trees are the responsibility of the landowner even if they are protected by a Tree Preservation Order (TPO) or are in a Conservation Area 

Landowners can be identified by using the on-line Land Registry service

Trees on public highways and rights of way

Trees situated next to the public highways and on public footpaths or Rights of Way are generally inspected and maintained by Devon County Council who can be contacted on 0345 155 1004 or 0845 155 1004, email: customer@devon.gov.uk, post: Devon County Council Highway Management, PO Box 494, Newton Abbot, TQ12 9GL.

Concerns about unsafe or fallen trees can be reported on the DCC website using their on-line form.
