Cornwall Council, working with the Federation of Small Business and the Cornwall Chamber of Commerce have produced a summary of what small businesses need to know if the country leaves the European Union with no deal.
UK businesses will have to apply customs, excise and VAT procedures to goods traded internationally. The HMRC are currently introducing a new Customs Declaration Service to assist with this.
DEFRA in the UK Central Competent Authority for international trade and exports of food and drink. Their website gives considerable information on the issues you need to consider for importing and exporting food; with links to all the forms you require and information on who processes them and how long it takes.
IT IS THE RESPONSIBILITY OF THE EXPORTING BUSINESS TO FIND OUT WHAT THE IMPORT REQUIREMENTS ARE IN THE DESTINATION COUNTRY BEFORE TRYING TO OBTAIN THE APPROPRIATE EXPORT CERTIFICATE.
