1. Volunteering with Parks and Gardens
Volunteer groups help to maintain nine of our green spaces in East Devon. These groups are composed of volunteers who dedicate their time and energy into caring for and improving their local parks for everyone to enjoy.
The volunteer groups meet on a regular basis, usually once a week. Staff from Parks and Gardens often attend to guide, assist and train the groups where necessary. Anyone with an interest in improving their local green space is welcome to join a volunteer group and give as much or as little time as they wish.

There are currently nine parks with volunteer groups:
- Connaught Gardens (Sidmouth)
- Glen Goyle (Sidmouth)
- Blackmore Gardens (Sidmouth)
- The Byes (Sidmouth)
- Phear Park (Exmouth)
- Manor Gardens (Exmouth)
- Jubilee Memorial Grounds (Beer)
- Seafield Gardens (Seaton)
- The Glen (Honiton)
Where we can, we offer support and guidance, from technical advice, to helping stage small events and activities in the parks.
If you want to set up a new volunteer group for a park that does not currently have one, email our Horticultural Technical Officer, Paul Fealey on pfealey@eastdevon.gov.uk.
We need all kinds of people with different skills to become part of a volunteer group. So, whether you're a horticulture expert or you don’t know the difference between a tree and a shrub, we would love to hear from you.
