4. Honiton Sports Pitch Strategy
The Honiton Sports Pitch Strategy was adopted by the Council on Wednesday 22 February 2017 following recommendation by Strategic Planning Committee on Monday 20th February 2017.
The East Devon Playing Pitch Strategy (PPS) identified a significant shortfall of sports pitches in Honiton to meet current and future demands. A key action of the PPS was therefore to assess options for where new sports pitches could be accommodated. The Honiton Sports Pitch Strategy has been produced to assess and recommend options for delivering against these identified needs.
The adopted Honiton Sports Pitch Strategy - February 2017
The adopted Honiton Sports Pitch Strategy consists of the following documents:
The Honiton Sports Pitch Strategy
Appendix 2 - STRI Stage 1 Report
Appendix 4 - Early consultee responses
Appendix 5 - STRI Stage 2 Report
- St. Rita's (HB), St. Rita's extension (H1) and (H9)
- Former Manor House School (H5)
Appendix 6 - Basic sustainability and suitability assessment
Appendix 7 - Recommendations plan
Appendix 8 - Honiton Development Trust plans for Tower Hill
The strategy is accompanied by the following documents:
- Consultation Statement Document which sets out the consultation which took place on the strategy throughout its production including summaries of the comments received during the final round of consultation and officer responses to these;
- Strategic Environmental Assessment (SEA) and Habitat Regulations Assessment (HRA) Screening Report which concludes that neither SEA or HRA is required to accompany the strategy;
- Equalities Impact Assessment (EqIA) Screening Report (final) which concludes that the strategy is unlikely to have a significant negative effect under the Equalities legislation.
It is important to note that the recommendations in this strategy are not a substitute for planning permission and do not mean that such proposals would necessarily gain planning permission. All planning applications are considered on their own merits against the development plan and any relevant material considerations of which this strategy would be one.
The Council is not obligated to fund or deliver any of these projects, however it will work closely with key partners towards their realisation.
