We communicate with our drivers on a regular basis via email, taxi liaison meetings and posting updates on this website. It is important that drivers check their emails regularly for this purpose.
12th December is next East Devon Taxi Association meeting
The next meeting of the East Devon Taxi Association will be taking place at The Manor Hotel, Exmouth on Tuesday 12th December 2023 at 7.00pm. East Devon District Council’s Licensing Authority will be attending to advise the trade on the recent Best Practice Guidance from the Department of Transport, as well as answering any taxi or private hire licensing questions you may have.
Please note, the East Devon Taxi Trade Association is wholly independent from East Devon District Council’s Licensing Authority. The Licensing Team are invited by the Association to attend to speak on taxi regulatory matters only.

24th November 2023 - Taxi ranks proposals and consultation
The licensing committee agreed to consult with the taxi trade with regard to improvements and changes to the taxi ranks in the East Devon district. We have sent an email detailing the proposals to all hackney drivers and proprietors. Also published is Appendix A - Taxi Ranks Summary that lists the recommendations, along with Appendix B ENV6060 All Plans containing plans of each rank in the area under review.
The consult begins on the 27th November and finishes 8th January. Anyone wishing to submit comments can do so via email to licensing@eastdevon.gov.uk or in writing to Licensing, Blackdown House, Border Road, Honiton EX14 1EJ
Safeguarding Training
Please note, as of 1st November 2023 all drivers will need to undertake approved safeguarding training within 12 months. Details will be provided to drivers in due course, and in the meantime, renewals should be submitted as normal.
