8. Obtain a DVLA check code to share your driving record
We check the DVLA driving records of all hackney carriage and private hire drivers.
Everyone’s driver record is held on the DVLA’s computers and can be viewed online, by phone or post. Access to the records are restricted and we need your help to carry out our checks. Without this we will be unable to process your application or renew your licence.
To do this we require you to provide us with a DVLA check code which enables us to go online and check your DVLA driver records.
Confirming your driving record to us
You can do this online for free by accessing the DVLA's share driving licence service. You can generate a DVLA check code to pass to us to view your driving licence details. Remember the code expires after 21 days.
