4. Pay and grading structure

In the last 10 years, there has been a major change in the way local authorities approach pay.  This includes a move to ‘single status’ which removed the distinction in pay and grading systems for ‘white collar’ and manual jobs.  

Additionally, authorities such as ours which use the national terms and conditions continue to apply the nationally determined pay awards and the 49 point national spinal column but can now construct their own pay and grading ladder. We have implemented a new pay and grading structure in April 2007 following job evaluation.
