3. Discount for people leaving care
A key priority for the Council is to support young people in care to move successfully into adult life and provide financial support and assistance to care leavers residing in East Devon. From 1 October 2023 we have introduced a Council Tax discount if:
- you have left the care of Devon County Council
- you are aged under 25
- your name is on the Council Tax bill.
Before applying for a care leavers discount you will need to apply for any discounts, disregards and exemptions you may be entitled to, such as single person discount, as well as Council Tax Reduction.

- confirmation from Devon County Council that you are a care leaver
- your date of birth.
