2. Exmouth
Exmouth is a picturesque, lively town, 11 miles southeast of Exeter. Situated at the mouth of the beautiful Exe estuary and at the gateway to the UNESCO Jurasic Coast World Heritage site, Exmouth and its cliffs are teaming with geological finds. Exmouth is one of Devons largest towns, hosting a wide range of shops, including an indoor market, delis, cafes, bars and restaurants. The coastline is also part of the South West Coast Path, and the beach and surrounding cliffs provide excellent short and long walks in the surrounding countryside.
Beach
Exmouth boasts two miles of golden sandy beach, set below a wide esplanade, and is a perfect spot for a variety of productions. It is known nationally as a regional centre for water sports activities – especially Sailing & Windsurfing. The introduction of the new watersports Centre, Sideshore, due to open in 2021 adds to its appeal as a very popular destination.
Beach Gardens are located on the seafront, overlooking the beach and offer a pretty and scenic space for additional production opportunities.
The Strand
Boasting a great, all weather location, The Strand is located in the very heart of Exmouth’s buzzing town and is surrounded by a square of shops, cafes, bars, delicatessens and is in walking distance of the beach.
Manor Gardens
Situated in the centre of Exmouth and walking distance to the beach, Manor Gardens are a beautiful and hugely popular Victorian style gardens, boasting an array of pedicured flower beds and a stunning and colourful collection of perennials and wild flowers.
With its large bandstand, used for wedding blessings, town concerts, theatre performances and musical shows, Manor Gardens is an atmospheric filming location.
Manor Gardens has held the Green Flag Award which recognises well managed parks and green spaces across the United Kingdom and around the world for a number of years.
The Maer
A complimentary space to productions taking place on the beach is this stunning nature reserve, providing a quiet and large green space for a variety of filming needs.
Imperial Recreation Ground
The Imperial Recreation Ground is a large open space, situated close to the beach and overlooking the Exe Estuary.
This stunning location has hosted many festivals, shows and a multitude of events over the years.
