4. Assessment for compliance with the Building Regulations

What we will do.

There is no formal requirement to submit plans with a building notice application, other than a site plan which is required for all new buildings and extensions. There is therefore no formal plan assessment process. However, further information may be required to help identify the scope of the works and to determine that works on site achieve compliance.

What we will not do.

As the enforcement body for building regulation matters in East Devon, the building control service cannot design building works or instruct how to make works compliant as the responsibility for design remains with the architect, designer, agent, builder and ultimately, the building owner.

What you will need to do (including a builder, architect or agent acting for you).

Provide supplementary information to building control with sufficient detail to determine that compliance with the building regulations will be achievable on site.

Timescale.

Any extra information should be provided in advance of works on site.
