Adoption
A report was taken to Cabinet on the 3 April 2019 recommending that the Exmouth Neighbourhood Plan be 'made' so that it forms part of the Development Plan for East Devon. The date of 'making' the Plan is 11 April 2019. This is following the successful referendum on 21 March 2019 where 87.62% of residents who voted were in favour of adopting the Plan.

Referendum
A neighbourhood planning referendum was held for the Exmouth Neighbourhood Development Plan on 21 March 2019. The question in the referendum was:
"Do you want East Devon District Council to use the Neighbourhood Plan for Exmouth to help it decide planning applications in the neighbourhood area?"
The results are as follows:
Number cast in favour of a 'YES'

Turnout: 15.49%

Exmouth Submission of Plan to Local Authority - Regulation 16

Neighbourhood Area Designation
Exmouth Town Council requested that their parish be designated as a neighbourhood area . The designation was approved on the 30 June 2015.
